Football Form Analyzer: xG & Predictions from Recent Form
Pick any two teams, big league or small. We read their latest competitive matches, work out expected goals for and against, and turn them into match probabilities.

These teams play in different leagues. The model does not know league strength, so treat the numbers with care.
How the Form Analyzer works
For each team we take the most recent competitive matches – league, cup and continental games. Friendlies are left out because rotated squads and mismatched opponents distort the numbers.
Goals scored and conceded per match become an attack and a defense rating. Small samples are pulled gently towards the average of both teams, so three clean sheets do not turn into a claim that a side never concedes.
The home side's expected goals are its attack against the visitors' defense, plus a small home-advantage boost. A Poisson model then turns both xG values into the probability of every score from 0-0 to 10-10.
What xG and xGA mean here
xG (expected goals) is how many goals a team is expected to score per match; xGA is how many it is expected to concede. Classic xG is built from shot quality, which only a few leagues publish.
This tool calculates xG from recent goals instead, so it works for any team in any league. It reacts faster to a change in form, but it cannot tell a lucky 1-0 from a dominant one.
How to use it for betting
- Pick the home and away team and choose 5 or 10 matches.
- Compare the fair odds with your bookmaker's price. A higher bookmaker price than the fair odds can signal value.
- Check the match list: injuries, a new coach or a run against weak opponents can explain a streak.
- Use 10 matches for a steadier picture and 5 matches to catch a recent change in form.
Limitations
Five matches is a small sample. Smoothing keeps the numbers sensible, but one freak result still moves them.
The model does not adjust for opponent strength or league level, and it knows nothing about injuries, suspensions or motivation.
